The Telerik Report Designer is a standalone authoring tool which allows end-users to quickly create, edit, and share reports. The tool uses the powerful Telerik Reporting engine, and can reuse reports already created with Telerik Reporting. It is a desktop client tool (WPF-based) with a modern interface, packaged as a single EXE file, which does not require installation.

The new Interactive Report View in Telerik Reporting improves the user experience by utilizing an optimized dedicated pagination algorithm meant for screen viewing of the report, which allows for better interaction with the report. This view uses fewer resources and renders the report much faster than the (old) print preview mode. The Print Preview is now dedicated for printing purposes only and does not offer interactivity.

Fast processing, swift rendering and less memory.

Regardless of the .NET platform you use, the number of images in your reports, or the calculations that you make, you will find that Telerik Reporting outperforms most other ad-hoc reporting tools in both speed and memory consumption.

Telerik Reporting runs with SQL Azure and on Windows Azure. Programming Telerik Reporting to operate in the Microsoft cloud is a no-brainer: you can connect Telerik Reporting to SQL Azure in a few simple steps by using the data providers for Telerik OpenAccess ORM, Microsoft Entity Framework, or by using plain ADO.NET, and then publish the reports to Windows Azure.

The design surface simulates graph paper and represents the actual layout of the report elements as they would appear on printed paper. With the help of the wizards the process of creating reports is extremely intuitive, with almost no learning involved. The same concepts were used in the new Telerik Report Designer, which empowers end-users and authors to create, edit and share ad-hoc reports in a simplified desktop client, which uses the latest UI standards, and does not require Visual Studio.

Codelessly bind data report items.

Codelessly bind data report items.

Telerik Reporting provides handy data source components that can be used to codelessly bind report items (tables, crosstabs, lists, and charts) to a wide range of data sources including cubes, relational databases, business objects, ORMs such as OpenAccess and Entity Framework, XML, and any ADO.NET data source. The variety of data providers that ADO.NET offers means that the report can be connected to the most used databases, such as SQL Analysis Services, SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft Access, OLE DB, etc. All data source components come with rich design-time support to help you bind your report items in minutes, and without requiring code.

Interactive reports give end-users the freedom to explore data in a visual and interactive way and to gain insight on how aggregates were derived, what does each high-level number mean, and view the raw data pertaining to a high level concept. The interactivity features are available in all report viewers and designers.

Telerik Reporting offers four ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF, and WinForms report viewers and guarantees the same look for your reports in all platforms. The viewers help you deliver Telerik reports to any business application, be it a web-based application (Silverlight, ASP.NET, MVC), desktop application (WPF, Windows Forms), or cloud (Windows Azure). If viewers are not needed in your application, or you would like to provide custom report functionality or a custom viewer, you can embed the report data directly in your .NET forms.
